There is no point in hiding that I am a fan of tropical weather. Even while living in Miami for the last ten years, the sound of sunbathing in a white sandy beach under clear blue skies still fills my heart with joy. Who doesn’t love a nice pristine beach anyway?! Well, luckily for me I’ve had a fair share of island hopping, and here are my favorite islands so far:
Ok, I’m a little biased here given that this is my birth country, but we share some of the most beautiful beaches in the world! My favorite town is Luperon, where my parents are from. Luperon is the Perfect place to get away and disconnect. Not only that but the dollar goes a long way, so it is perfect for budget travelers.
I loved Barbados, their beaches are incredible! I found Barbados to be an excellent recommendation for a romantic getaway, even though I went with my girlfriends and had a blast. If the beaches don’t make you fall in love, the warmth of its people and the great food will. PS: If you’re not a Rhianna fan, beware!
I can confidently say that Aruba is truly “one Happy Island”. The vibe from the locals was incomparable to any other island I’ve ever been to. If you have a chance to visit, make sure to catch the sunset at one of its popular beaches, you won’t be disappointed!
Trinidad and Tobago
I added TNT’s carnival on my bucket list years ago, and sooner or later I know that I’ll be able to make it happen. In the mean time, I can rejoice with the memories I created on my most recent trip. We were surrounded by music every where we went, I felt like I was in carnival already. Our Airbnb hosts were simply perfect, they were ready to show us how to party but our lack of time didn’t give us the chance. More reason to come back!
Although I was in Cuba for a limited time, I connected with locals in a way I never imagined. Aside from the classic car rides, the smoking of Cuban cigars, and salsa lessons that a majority of U.S visitors seem to enjoy when visiting this island; the vast history that encompasses this country makes Cuba one of the top countries I want to return to. It was such an eye opener to see the conditions that the Cubans have lived in for so many years, yet they still show pride in their country. Cuba is definitely worth multiple visits, I’m working on making that happen!
